To help students to reach Korean proficiency targets, the Korean Flagship regularly assesses students developing proficiency in Korean in the following areas:

  • Speaking (ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview)
  • Reading (ACTFL Reading Test)
  • Listening (ACTFL Listening Test)

Korean Flagship students also take the official Tests of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) in listening and reading at the novice level of proficiency, and writing at more advanced levels.

Results from these assessments help students to better understand their progress and to set goals for their learning. The results also help the program to better meet individual students’ needs through Korean Flagship tutoring.
