Samantha is currently a sophomore majoring in East Asian Languages and Cultures. She began learning Korean her freshman year of high school through self study, and during her first semester at UW, she joined the Korean Flagship. She first gained interest in Korean language and culture through Korean history, and now has an interest in pursuing a career in translation.
As not only a student ambassador of the Korean Flagship, but also as someone who has a lot of interest in East Asia as a whole, something she would like to tell prospective students is to keep an open mind and be creative while learning. Therefore, utilizing not only Flagship resources, but also those around campus, she hopes that students think of learning Korean as a hobby that they take pride in throughout their life and career!
